Nellie R. Santiago-Fernandez (born June 14, 1943) is an American politician from New York.
==Life==
She was born on June 14, 1943.〔(Nellie R. Santiago ) at Project Vote Smart〕 She graduated B.A. from Hunter College in 1970, M.A. from Columbia University in 1972, and Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1977. She worked in health care and entered politics as a Democrat. She became an aide to State Senator Howard E. Babbush in 1987. She married Benito Fernandez, who ran Brooklyn Manor, a home for adult mentally ill persons, which came under scrutiny by the health authorities in 2001.〔(''Despite Inspections by State, Violations at Home Continued'' ) by Clifford J. She was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1993 to 2002, sitting in the 190th, 191st, 192nd, 193rd and 194th New York State Legislatures.
